  • Rainer K. Silbereisen was born in 1944, in Freudenstadt, Germany, less than a year before the end of World War II. After several moves throughout the country, his family settled close to the border to the Netherlands, where he attended a high school specializing in natural sciences. Beginning in his adolescent years, he became interested in music (classic jazz), arts, and creative work, and particularly in biology and other life sciences.
