- The American Osteopathic Association (AOA) is a member association that represents more than 61,000 (as of 2008) osteopathic physicians (DOs). With headquarters in Chicago, the AOA has a mission of advancing the philosophy of osteopathic medicine by promoting excellence in education, research, and the delivery of quality, cost-effective healthcare within a distinct, unified profession.
