Brady Bill
Definition
- a piece of federal legislation named after former White House press secretary James Brady, who was shot and disabled in the 1981 assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan. The Brady Bill was designed to reduce the opportunities for criminals to obtain handguns by requiring purchasers of handguns to undergo a criminal background check.
