Definition
- China, the most populous country in the world, has witnessed a rapid increase in divorce over the past few decades. Although divorce was extremely uncommon in ancient China because of the strong influence of Confucianism, which promotes harmony and utilization and discourages conflict and dissolution, traditional family beliefs and values are challenged, modified, or even abandoned in modern Chinese society.
