Concept information
Preferred term
Chinese television
Definition
- After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) came into power in 1949, China built its media system on the Soviet Union's model. Instead of being a “watchdog” of the government, news media served as a “mouthpiece” or “transmission belt” of the party to propagate socialist ideals and execute government policies.
