Democratic Party
Definition
- The Democratic Party is one of the two major parties that dominate the political landscape of the contemporary United States. Tracing its origins to the Democratic-Republican Party founded in 1792 by Thomas Jefferson, it has generally embraced liberal policies that have favored the interests of the common man over those of the political and economic elites.
