- A PROMINENT GREEK-BORN U.S. epidemiologist, Dimitrios Trichopoulos has researched cancer prevention extensively, and since 1994, he has been a professor and director of the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention, Boston. Dimitrios Vassilios Trichopoulos was born on December 9, 1938, in Volos, Greece, the son of Vassilios Konstantinou and Alexandra Dimitrios (née Kataropoulou).
