Hollywood blacklists
Definition
- One of the iconic episodes of the anti-communist furor of post–World War II America, the Hollywood blacklist marked the intersection of Cold War anxieties and the cultural power of American media culture. Anti-communist crusaders—both within the government and the private sector—targeted the media as a site of subversive infiltration.
