John Torrio
Definition
- Mentor to Al Capone and organizer of what would later grow to become Chicago's “Outfit,” Torrio was born near Naples and came to the United States with his parents at the age of 2. Torrio grew up on Manhattan's Lower East Side and soon became the leader of the James Street Boys, part of New York's infamous Five Points Gang.
