Definition
- Activist, educator, and humanitarian Johnnetta Betsch Cole is best known for her leadership role as president of the only two historically Black women's colleges in the United States: Spelman College, founded in 1881, and Bennett College, founded in 1873 (it became a women's college in 1926).
