Definition
- Libya, located on the Mediterranean Sea between Egypt and Tunisia, occupies 1,759,540 square kilometers and has a population of 5.5 million people (July 2003 estimate). Since 1969, it has been ruled by General Moammar Qadhafi, who espouses a combination of Islam and socialism, although his support for international terrorism made Libya an international pariah.
