Definition
- Rigoberta Menchú Tum (1959–) was born in the western highlands of Guatemala of labor activist parents. Her father, a member of the EGP (Guerrilla Army of the Poor) faction of Guatemala's Marxist rebels, was killed during a takeover of the Spanish Embassy in Guatemala City in 1980.
