Definition
- Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) generally refers to a collection of unique improvisational and theatrical forms developed by Brazilian theater artist and activist Augusto Boal. TO is a participatory and democratic approach to theater that critically examines social, political, and personal oppressions to develop emancipatory strategies.
