Twining v. New Jersey
Definition
- The Fourteenth Amendment (ratified in 1868), states that “No state shall deprive any person of life, liberty or property without due process of law.” It was intended to limit state power to enact laws regulating certain areas of life, and the procedures states use when prosecuting the criminally accused.
