U.S. Census language data
Definition
- The U.S. Census Bureau collects information on language use to help governmental agencies meet statutory obligations. For instance, under the Voting Rights Act of 1965, information on language use is needed by the Justice Department to ensure that voting materials are being made available in languages other than English where required.
