United States v. Burr
Definition
- One of the earliest cases of treason in the United States was brought by the administration of President Thomas Jefferson against Aaron Burr. Burr, a lawyer and politician from New York, was best known for having killed former secretary of the treasury, Alexander Hamilton, in a duel in 1804.
