- The University of New Hampshire (UNH) formed the University Office of Sustainability in 1997, making it the oldest endowed sustainability program in higher education in the United States. The Office of Sustainability was created to oversee campus-wide and community outreach sustainability initiatives in UNH's ongoing commitment to maintain its leadership role in the field.
