Definition
- The term absconding is used to describe the behavior of someone who is in hiding to avoid arrest. In community corrections, absconding refers to the conduct of a person who, while under probation or parole supervision, fails to comply with the requirement to report periodically and otherwise maintain contact with the supervising agency.
