Definition

  • An anticipatory warrant is one that is issued contingent on the probable cause of a future event. Now recognized by the Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 41(a), such a warrant is most typically used in cases involving the actual delivery of illegal drugs or of child pornography, sometimes in connection with “sting” operations.
