- General research on attribution addresses a wide range of judgments and cognitions that occur during person perception and social interactions. Fritz Heider's seminal work on person perception, “The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations,” provided the impetus for decades of research on how people explain the behaviors of others, a body of work that has fallen under the broad label of attribution.
