carbon sinks
Definition
- A CARBON SINK is defined as a pool or reservoir that absorbs carbon released from another part of the carbon cycle (the net exchange between the biosphere and the atmosphere). If the net exchange is toward the atmosphere, the biosphere is the source, and the atmosphere is the sink. [Source: Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change; Carbon Sinks]
