Definition
- The precipitation of minerals (cement) in the pore spaces of a sediment during diagenesis, and the binding of the grains together. It is a process of lithification, forming sedimentary rocks, and also occurs in soils. [Source: Encyclopedia of Environmental Change; cementation]
