community empowerment
Definition
- Empowerment refers to a process whereby a sense of powerlessness is replaced with the ability to exercise greater control over circumstances or conditions that affect a person's quality of life or life situation. Often, improving these circumstances or conditions requires overcoming obstacles that hinder access to social or economic resources, such as quality health care, job opportunities, or safe, affordable housing.
