Definition
- As computers become an ever more integral element of modern life, law enforcement officials will increasingly be faced with how to conduct searches of computers and computer files in a manner consistent with Fourth Amendment standards. Many cases involving computer searches may hinge on what analogies courts draw between searches of computers and searches of file cabinets, closed containers, and other areas with which they have dealt previously.
