culturally anchored liberal education
Definition
- As a feature of the general education curriculum within undergraduate study in the United States, a culturally anchored liberal education portrays humanity as rooted in diversity, and diversity as expressing humanity. Consistent with Gloria Ladson-Billings's culturally relevant pedagogy and the values of general education, the general education curriculum aims to support development of deeply and broadly knowledgeable, culturally competent, and sociopolitically conscious individuals.
