Definition
- Data privacy is an abstract term that, in healthcare, refers to the delicate relationship among the legal rights of a person, the growing global demand for information, and the technology used in the collection, sharing, and use of data. The word privacy invokes thoughts of freedom from unwanted access to one's health-related information as guaranteed by federal and state laws; it is also used with or in place of the term confidentiality in healthcare.
