Definition
- The disappearance of work has become an important topic of sociological investigation over the past four decades. As mass unemployment has resurfaced in many industrialized societies, processes of economic restructuring have also led to the decline of long-term, relatively stable manufacturing jobs and the proliferation of more insecure occupations in service sectors.
