Concept information
Preferred term
employee voice
Definition
- The idea that employees should be able to exercise voice in their employment relationships has traditionally been implemented in the context of unionization, whereby an organized group of employees negotiates a collective agreement with an employer that includes a multistep grievance procedure, typically culminating in arbitration. This means that if an employee has a complaint about working conditions, pay, supervision, or other terms and conditions of employment, he or she can seek redress by filing a grievance.
