health transition
Definition
- An extension of the theory of epidemiological transition arguing that we have now moved into a fourth stage of the relationship between modern societies and disease. These changes relate to changes in life expectancy, with male life expectancy catching up with females; the reduction of some degenerative diseases; and a greater postulated role for lifestyle factors as the source of disease.
