hip hop studies
Definition
- Hip hop studies is an outgrowth of hip hop youth culture, which has origins in the African American, African Caribbean, and Latino communities of the borough of the Bronx in New York during the early 1970s. Over the years, it has grown into an educational tool for use among African Americans and is now itself the subject of scholarly research and an academic curriculum at the university level.
