Definition
- Legitimacy is the perception that an object (e.g., an organization, its structure, its procedures) is valid and appropriate. Multiple definitions of legitimacy exist that address how legitimacy facilitates the use of power and authority within organizations or provides access to resources controlled by others in a field.
