instrumentalism
Definition
- Broadly Speaking, the term instrumentalism is a view that all ideas (theories, laws, concepts, beliefs, identities, and so on) have value beyond their precision or ability to espouse truths. Instead, ideas hold value as instruments serving a larger purpose or agenda. [Source: Encyclopedia of Environment and Society; Instrumentalism]
