Definition
- Defined variously by states, local jurisdictions, and common usage, jaywalking is a distinctly American term applied to certain disapproved street uses. Typically a jaywalker is a pedestrian who crosses streets without regard to pedestrian regulations—particularly in ways that obstruct traffic or endanger the pedestrian.
