Preferred term

mood and relationships

Definition

  • Moods are affective states that can be every bit as intense as emotions, but are not directed at a target and thus are often experienced in a more prolonged fashion. Emotions, on the other hand, are of shorter duration and largely depend on the onset and offset of a specific event. [Source: Encyclopedia of Human Relationships; Mood and Relationships]
