normalization
Definition
- Normalization, or the normalization principle, has been the most significant driving force in the ongoing closure of state-run or state-funded institutions for people with a disability, especially those with a developmental disability in the Western industrialized world. Its influence is also permeating the policies of developing countries that are increasingly embracing human rights principles. [Source: Encyclopedia of Disability; Normalization]
