- Oral tradition in music among the social and behavioral sciences corresponds to aspects of music that are passed down by individuals teaching one another the art form, whether in person or by means of recording, radio, television, or other nonwritten means. The study of oral traditions in music comprises the subject of studies by social and cultural historians, as well as psychologists and cognitive scientists of music.
