Definition
- A part of the nervous system that facilitates communication between the central nervous system (CNS) and other parts of the body. The PNS consists of two types of cells—(1) those that carry information to the CNS (sensory nervous cells) and (2) those that carry information from the CNS (motor nervous cells).
