play (sociology)
Definition
- Most commonly, play is defined as an activity bringing amusement or enjoyment, often referring to the spontaneous activity of young children or young animals. Although mostly positive, the word can also bear some negative connotations as for instance in the phrase “to play-up.” Indeed, play does not have one single meaning and can be better defined as opposed to other activities regarded as being notplay.
