Definition

  • One way in which orthodox medicine maintains its boundaries and excludes competitors, is label them as frauds or quacks. More generically, claims to medical scientific competence without appropriate state mandated qualifications, and using methods of diagnosis or treatment not recognized by the orthodox medical profession (allopathy/allopathic; complementary/alternative medicine; Flexner report; professionalization).
