Concept information
Preferred term
refugees and forced migration
Definition
- What primarily distinguishes refugees and forced migrants from any other migrants is the fact that they flee a specific situation of crisis. These catalysts can be political in nature, such as the Bosnian war in the 1990s, or environmental, such as the drought in east Africa that began roughly in mid-2011.
