- The effects of sexual assault on the lives of victims are tremendous, and estimates of the likelihood of being sexually victimized are frighteningly high. Although figures vary greatly, it is estimated that about 13 percent of all women have been raped and somewhere between 3 and 36 percent of men and women were sexually abused as children.
