Definition
- Shelter-in-place is a term for emergency management short-term, nonevacuation strategies to protect community residents’ health and safety. The purpose of shelter-in-place as an emergency response action is to protect people from exposure to contaminated air or at least to lower the risk of people's exposure to contaminated air.
