Definition
- Cigarette smoking is now well accepted as the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. The latest statistics reveal that about 3 million smokers worldwide die annually from smoking and that the rapid increase in smoking in developing countries will cause this annual toll to rise to about 10 million by the year 2030.
