Definition
- Social housing is a collective term for the public service provision of decent and safe, subsidized shelter for eligible low-income families or other vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and persons with disabilities, in a society. Subsidies may be direct or indirect, in the form of direct housing subsidies, nonprofit housing, public housing, cooperative housing, or rent supplements for people living in private sector housing.
