stigma communication
Definition
- Stigma arguably has its creation, maintenance, and effects tied to communication. The word's root meaning to prick or tattoo references nonverbal communication used in ancient Greece to mark criminals' and slaves' foreheads so they could be tracked and treated within the community's standards of devaluation and discrimination.
