tides
Definition
- Tides are the cyclic rising and falling of the earth's seas and oceans caused by the concerted gravitational pull of the sun, moon, and earth itself. On a geologic timescale, there has never been a more profound factor in the shaping of the world's coastlines than the everlasting ebb and flow of the tides.
