transformative learning
Definition
- The term transformative learning (commonly known as TL) is an approach to adult learning and education that is embedded within the behavioural sciences, a collective term for a number of disciplines that focus on the study of human behaviour. Emanating from the work of Jack Mezirow, who takes a cognitive rational approach building on constructivist assumptions, it explores how adult learners integrate new learning with their existing knowledge and experiences.
