Definition
- Vengeance, synonymous with revenge, is an act of (or motivation for) retribution in response to a perceived transgression. This definition implies that a transgressor has incurred a social debt, and although the greatest satisfaction might come from forcing the actual transgressor to pay that debt, sometimes a “payment by proxy” will do.
