- When rock legend Cui Jian gained national fame in 1986 with his song “Nothing to My Name,” a rock culture was born in China. Since then, numerous bands have followed his example, exploring sounds that range from heavy metal to urban folk, and from hip-hop to Britpop, with Beijing as the epicenter of China's rock culture.
