Definition
- Since the mid-20th century, working during the day on weekdays has been established as the standard form of full-time employment in the United States and many other rich countries. Since the 1970s, however, research has shown that a large and increasing number of workers reports working nonstandard schedules, including weekends, evenings, nights, and rotating shifts.
